It was an opportunity for Americans and Mauritians alike to join in the celebrations, together watching history in the making. January 20^th 2009, the day an Afro American became the 44^th President of the United States of America.

The American Chamber of Commerce, Mauritius, held an Inauguration party where some 100 guests enjoyed LIVE coverage of the journey President-Elect Barack Obama took before his Swearing-In Ceremony and shared in the emotional moments of his first speech as the President of the United States of America.

AMCHAM is pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Commerce, through the American Embassy, is providing free of charge on-line IPR modules.  Regardless of what product your enterprise makes or what service it provides, it is likely that it is regularly using and creating intellectual property.  This being the case, you should systematically consider the steps required for protecting, managing and enforcing it, so as to get the best possible commercial results from its ownership.  While every IP-based business is vulnerable to piracy, small businesses can be at a particular disadvantage because they lack the resources and expertise available to larger businesses.  The course is designed to help small businesses take the steps to protect themselves against losses they are likely to suffer as a result of  IPR infringement.   We hope, however, that the information presented is useful to all businesses, large or small.
